From the 3rd of June,the Flower Council of Holland has a new name: Plants & Flowers FoundationHolland.

Sierteelt sector: btw-verhoging op bloemen en planten moet van tafel

Royal FloraHolland zet zich hard in om de btw-verhoging van tafel te krijgen. Daarom heeft RFH samen met andere vertegenwoordigers van de sierteeltsector een krachtig beroep gedaan op het kabinet om af te zien van de voorgenomen verhoging van de btw op bloemen, planten, bloembollen en boomkwekerijproducten van 9 naar 21 procent. Media zoals het FD, BNR en het AD publiceerden hierover.

Laatste veildag Eelde: “Einde van een tijdperk”

Met de laatste veildag bij Royal FloraHolland in Eelde is een tijdperk tot een einde gekomen. Eelde was sinds 1978 dé plek in het noorden van het land waar generaties kwekers, kopers en medewerkers elkaar vonden, samenwerkten én waar ruimte was voor een praatje. De laatste veildag en de sluiting van de hub op dinsdag 30 juni brengen dan ook emoties met zich mee. “Dankbaarheid overheerste voor alles wat hier samen is opgebouwd en beleefd.”

In de 6-delige serie Varend Corso Weekjournaal gaat PFFH langs bij Lugt Lisianthus, Divine Flowers, Beyond Chrysant, Van Schie Potlelies, Pico Bello Hortensia en Geest Potplanten.

De serie volgt glastuinbouwkwekers tijdens de voorbereidingen van het evenement.

Eco-friendly rose may cost a few euros

Per 1 juli is Pieter Bootsma teruggekeerd als CEO van FloraHolland (RFH) na een periode van herstel en stapsgewijze re-integratie. Pieter neemt hiermee de leiderschapsrol weer over van David van Mechelen, die deze rol het afgelopen jaar op interimbasis heeft vervuld. David van Mechelen neemt zijn verantwoordelijkheden als CFO weer volledig op zich per 1 juli.

Op uitnodiging van RFH heeft een aantal journalisten lid-kwekers bezocht in Kenia. Ons doel? Meer inzicht geven in hoe de sector daar functioneert, welke rol innovatie, duurzaamheid en internationale samenwerking hebben en wat de impact op de lokale economie is. Er is veel kennis overgedragen over o.a. telen in Kenia, transport, gewasbescherming, sociale impact en water.

Busy times at Royal FloraHolland in the run-up to Valentine’s Day

A total of 464 million flowers were traded via auctions and direct trade in the run-up to Valentine’s Day. In 2025, the number was 452 million. Of these, 150 million of these flowers were roses.

Why you can buy flowers with peace of mind

The NVWA investigated the use of crop protection in ornamental plant cultivation in 2022. The results of this survey were published earlier this year. In response to this report, RFH released this statement in consultation with the industry.

The “Flower Love” campaign was a success: many flowers were handed out to passersby

RFH launched the ‘Flower Love’ campaign in collaboration with VBW and Plantion to show how much passion and dedication is behind every flower. On Valentine’s Day, RFH staff, the VBW and member grower Dean Zuidgeest of Villa Gerbera were at Amsterdam Central Station to hand out flowers.

Petition against VAT increase for the floriculture sector has been signed more than 3,000 times

The announced increase in the VAT rate on flowers and plants from 9% to 21% is hitting the floriculture sector hard. In response, the GBW launched a petition that has now had more than 3000 signatures.
